Dustin Martin is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League. He is a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame (AFL).
He was selected by Richmond with the third overall choice in the national draft in 2009, and he made his debut in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the opening round of the 2010 season. Because of his ban, he was not eligible to receive the AFL Rising Star award for 2010, despite the fact that he had been nominated for the award.
In 2016, he was recognized as Richmond's best and fairest player, earning him the Jack Dyer Medal. That same year, he was also selected for the All-Australian team for the first time.
What Happened To Dustin Martin?
Dustin Martin is hoping to make a speedy recovery from the terrible event that caused him to leave his team's game and send him to the hospital with what appeared to be a rib injury. Martin's game for Richmond was ended as a result of the incident.
Jack Riewoldt played in his 300th game, and it was the occasion of the return of the Tigers of old, who ended a skid of four consecutive defeats to hand Brisbane a 20-point defeat.
However, the victory was marred by an injury sustained by the Tigers' three-time Norm Smith Medallist. It came out on the losing end of a massive collision with Brisbane hard nut Mitch Robinson late in the third period. This clash occurred after the Tigers had already secured victory.
Martin remained to lie on the ground in a slouched position for a considerable amount of time while medical personnel attended to the injured player. As spectators responded to the occurrence on various forms of social media, he was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure and did not continue to take part in the game after that point.
Australian Rules Football Player Injury And health Update
It was his first game in the AFL since Round 18 of the previous year when he was involved in a collision with Lions veteran Mitch Robinson and suffered a lacerated kidney as a result. It has been confirmed by Richmond that Martin remained in the hospital for observation purposes for a few days.
When the 30-year-old player was trying to gather a loose ball in the middle of Metricon Stadium during the third quarter of the game, he got caught between two Lions players who were defending against him.
Martin braced himself for the contact and threw Mitch Robinson into orbit, but the Tigers superstar was the one who suffered the full power of the impact. After the three Tigers' trainers descended upon him, he remained on the ground while in the all-fours position for some time before getting up.
Martin did not play any further part in the Round 18 match. The Tigers' head coach Damien Hardwick revealed that the team's top player was transported to the hospital after the final siren sounded.
Where is Dustin Martin Now?
Martin has taken a break from football in order to deal with personal concerns, one of which is the tragic death of his father Shane in December. His father passed away in December.
Even though he is under contract with the Tigers until the end of 2024, the three-time winner of the Norm Smith Medal hasn't played since Round 1, and there has been speculation over his future in the sport of Australian rules football.
According to Balme, the Richmond team is "suffering" without Martin at the moment, but he predicted that Martin will make up for his absence on the field when he returns.
