Scott Adkins is a British martial artist, actor, producer, scriptwriter, and gymnast. He was born on 17 June 1976 into a butcher family for generations.

A genetically-gifted athlete, Scott enjoyed various sports as he grew up, but when he was ten years old, he visited his father and brother at the local Judo club. He immediately got attracted to the sport.

Idolizing Hollywood stars like Bruce Lee, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott started to train daily, turning his Dad's garage into his own little dojo. His interest in martial arts grew even more after being robbed at 13.

The opportunity came about when Wei Tung, head of the Hong Kong Stuntmen Association and English-born Hong Kong movie expert Bey Logan, discovered him. Adkins got to work with some of East's prominent action directors like Yuen Woo-ping, Corey Yuen, Sammo Hung, and the legendary Jackie Chan.

Adkins was later offered small appearances in BBC’s Doctors, EastEnders, and City Central, and a starring role in Sky One comedy-drama Mile High. His career sky-rocketed after he landed leading roles in films such as Talbot in Special Forces (2003) and Yuri Boyka in Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing (2006).

The latter film broke him into the mainstream with his evil portrayal of the Russian prison fighter Boyka, considered the best American martial arts film with its violent fight scenes and well-plotted story.

Following that, Adkins had a guest appearance in bigger budget films like The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and The Tournament (2009) and played alongside his childhood idol Jean-Claude Van Damme as his main competitor in Sony Pictures The Shepherd: Border Patrol (2008).

Scott Adkins is a genuine mixed martial artist but not a professional fighter.

Beginning his training at 13 after being mugged, Adkins gained his first black belt in Taekwondo at nineteen.

Since then, he is trained in Taekwondo, Judo, Ninjitsu, Karate, Ninjitsu, Capoeira, Wushu, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Acrobatic Gymnastics.

Currently, he is a kickboxing instructor for the Professional Karate Association (PKA). Although he may not be a professional fighter, he is known for doing most of his own stunts in his movies.
