No matter what, Horror movies have never stopped giving us that cold, creepy chills and heartquakes. New Trailers have already been revealed for horror fans.

This year too, for us to get a macabre experience, ghosts have started to rise from the dark, nightmares are turning into reality, and bloodcurdling evil forces are back with gruesome treacherous schemes that will make us dread the mythos of horror and revisit them.

Horror movie fans have equally liked supernatural horror movies, dystopian flicks, slashers, psycho-thrillers, comedy horrors, and even sci-fi scary movies.

We challenge ourselves to be brave, and yet when watching grisly movies alone in the dark, those deep-seated natural fear unfurls and takes us whole in their grip, though we come out of it again. We want to examine and experience the dark instinct within ourselves and be horrified by it, and even find pleasure in it.

Below, we've listed a few upcoming scary movies scheduled for 2023. Maybe you have already seen a few of them. If not, take our hands, as we are going to take you on a walk past some sinister people, places, and the unknowns:

10. Megan

Why not begin this year with a science fiction horror movie? This genre has gained increasing popularity with new tech developments and for being more creative.

Megan, released early this year, follows the story of the eponymous artificially intelligent humanoid robot doll, developed as a companion to a child, slowly turning into a threat to humans. It's not only about the AIs but how frightening it can be for humans too to let go of our tech attachments, especially as children.

M3GAN, catered to Cady, by her roboticist aunt Gemma, to protect her from any trouble and give emotional support since Cady had recently lost her parents, develops ties and becomes so possessive that it unravels a series of dreadful actions.

Moving between a human character played by a child actor and an animatronic puppet, the AI doll is definitely going to give us terrifying impressions throughout. Not to forget the dance in the trailer; you'll later be horrified by that act of play.

9. Scream VI

The Ghostface has now followed the survivors of the prequel to New York City. And it becomes unnerving for us, like for the past victors, deep in the story.

In this slasher sequel to the horror movie Scream (2022), the ghost face has now become more audacious to kill the indomitable heroes. Directed by the duo - Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, this psychological-horror film will keep you fixed to your seats. In contrast, the ghost makes surprise visits to the hunted ones, and the characters devise a plan to defeat it.

The sixth movie in the Scream franchise, Scream VI is a highly anticipated slasher cinema of the year, and the audience has positively received its trailer.

8. The Boogeyman

With standard plotlines and gripping characters, story adaptations into eerie movies are largely successful these days. This year too we will be seeing them.

An inspired adaptation of a story by the same name written by the master of Horror writing: Stephen King, this supernatural horror movie revolves around two girls and their psychiatrist father who are haunted by an occult entity that has been unknowingly left behind by a patient who had had tragic experiences.

Can they or how will the girls fight this evil ambushing in the dark and desolation, which feeds from the suffering of its prey? You'll have to find it on your own. A must-watch for all the horror fans of Stephen King, who also wrote The Shining (1980) and IT (2017)!

7. Cocaine Bear

A bear high on coke-fueled craze gives hard times to the cops, tourists, and criminals with its rampage and hunt for blood and flesh. Doesn't this sound hairy?

Inspired by true events: 1985 Georgia, where a 175-pound bear that consumed a bag full of cocaine was found dead, this movie features an overdosed, frenzied 500-pound bear that attacks the characters and who must run for their lives.

The first 'Bear Movie' on our list, this part comedy, part thriller, and part horror movie is a must-watch for those who love to watch the animal-gone-mad vs human conflicts. The CGI bear looks so real in the youtube trailer, we think the furry animal is going to give bad breaks to those around it.

6. Skinamarink

Do you remember Paranormal Activity (2009) which used Found Footage technique? Skinamarink is an experimental horror movie done almost in a similar way.

In the middle of the night, two children wake up to find that their father has been missing, and all the doors and windows of the house and other objects are vanishing too. Set in a dark house, where sinister voices as if from a nightmare call you only to fade away, this low-budget movie has already claimed positive reviews from the critics.

The objects against the black and gritty background will transport us to our greatest fear: the fear of the unknown. This movie with no extraordinary soundtrack and clearly faced voices, is close to absurdity but at the same time creeps under our skin for its depth and dark horror. This new Elevated Horror will turn childhood nightmares into reality.

5. Renfield

Don't be surprised if your favorite Ghost Rider (Nicholas Cage) turns into Count Dracula! And a narcissistic boss, Dracula won't be so easy on his servant.

In this comedy horror movie, the titular Renfield, played by Nicholas Hoult, is the assistant of the legendary vampire. However, the devoted aide has found a new fascination and a way of life and wants to break ties with the Count by stopping doing malevolent acts for him.

In this horror feature, Renfield will again bring the iconic characters from the novel Dracula (1897) by Bram Stoker to life but with a fresh take on the much-overlooked character – Renfield.

The novel is a highly anticipated movie this year, and the master-servant conflict of codependency is believed to add something new to the legacy of the iconic Character Dracula, who has been featured in over 300 movies to date.

4. Snow Falls

It's a wrong idea to get isolated but what if? In this bone-chilling horror, a group of friends is stranded in a remote cabin with little means of survival.

After consuming a frozen cocktail, their realities are blurred – confusion, disorientation, loss of sanity, and havoc of fear engulf them.

While they suspect the snowflakes were contaminated with a virus, the characters must struggle to live through their delirium. A survival horror flick – one will recall this movie the next time you do a slumber party somewhere with friends in your New Year.

3. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey

Imagine your childhood cartoon character turning into a murderer and terrorizer. You'll get a repulsion but this year, be ready when some blood is on their hand!

In this slasher horror and a second one with Bear on our list, Winnie-the-Pooh is characterized as an anthropomorphic bear who has again turned back to its animalistic instinct. The lead protagonist has a history with the Pooh and other animals, and when he returns back to that idyllic forest of his past, revenge is waiting to take its toll on him and whoever visits the 100 acres of Wood.

Abandonment turning the loved ones into abominator bloodthirsty animals: that is definitely going to be a bloodcurdling experience for you.

2. Infinity Pool

Set in a fictional country, the movie follows a writer and his wife, who travel to spend time in a resort in a fictional coastal country. And killing is on the way!

Very soon in the plot, a furtive and seductive woman who claims to be a fan of the writer's work invites them to spend time with her and her husband.

In the ominous buildup, the couple finds themselves surrounded by death traps after an accident occurs. With violence, horror, and hedonist brutality of the twists, this science fiction horror thriller will make anyone petrified – to find a place where either one has to die or pay for the killing.
